Żewġ plejers Maltin tat-table tennis, Joseph Leone Ganado u Joseph Said, se jirrappreżentaw lil Malta fil-Logħob tal-University of the Third Age (U3A), li se jsiru fi Zvolen, fis-Slovakkja, bejn is-16 u t-18 ta’ Settembru 2026.
Il-kompetizzjoni, li se dieħla fil-15-il edizzjoni, se tlaqqa’ parteċipanti minn diversi pajjiżi Ewropej, fosthom il-Latvja, it-Turkija, ir-Rumanija, il-Polonja, l-Ukrajna, iċ-Ċekja u s-Slovakkja. Il-parteċipanti kollha jrid ikollhom aktar minn 50 sena.
Ganado u Said se jikkompetu fl-avvenimenti tat-timijiet, singles u doubles. Għal dawn l-aħħar seba’ snin, it-tnejn komplew jipprattikaw it-table tennis billi jattendu sessjonijiet ta’ taħriġ ma’ Sharp Shot Academy f’Ħal Tarxien. Huma jikkompetu wkoll fil-Kampjonat Nazzjonali tar-Raba’ Diviżjoni.
Ganado, li għandu 80 sena, huwa meqjus bħala l-iktar plejer veteran fil-komunità Maltija tat-table tennis.
Joseph Leone Ganado and Joseph Said to Represent Malta at U3A Games in Slovakia
Two Maltese table tennis players, Joseph Leone Ganado and Joseph Said, will represent Malta at the University of the Third Age (U3A) Games, which will be held in Zvolen, Slovakia, between 16 and 18 September 2026.
The competition, which is entering its 15th edition, will bring together participants from various European countries, including Latvia, Turkey, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Czechia and Slovakia. All participants must be over the age of 50.
Ganado and Said will compete in the team, singles and doubles events. Over the past seven years, both players have continued to practise table tennis by attending training sessions at Sharp Shot Academy in Tarxien. They also compete in the National Fourth Division Championship.
Ganado, who is 80 years old, is regarded as the most veteran player within Malta’s table tennis community.
